Marriage licenses are issued Monday through Friday by appointment. It generally takes about 15 minutes to obtain your license. Both parties must be present. Blood tests are no longer required.

Two forms of identification are required; one being an age related document (birth certificate, baptismal record, or naturalization record) and one being an identity document (driver's license, passport, employment picture ID, or immigration ID).

If either of the parties are divorced, we will need to see divorce papers for each and every divorce including judgements of divorce. If either parties' spouses are deceased, we need to see a death certificate for date of death. The marriage license is valid 24 hours after it is issued and is only valid for sixty (60) days. The fee for the license is $40.00. The fee also includes a Certificate of Marriage Registration.

We accept cash, check, Visa,  MasterCard and Discover Card.

Please call 247-6100 ext. 201 for an appointment.

For those wishing to be married by a Town of Gates Justice, please contact the court clerks office at 426-0410.
