Recognition of Gates Incorporation

April 1st 2013 at Gates Town Hall starting 7 PM. The Gates Town Board will be in period costume to acknowledge the birth of Gates by decree and proclamation. Bearded Brothers of the Bush beard growing contest will be judged. Winners will receive gift certificates to local restaurants. The categories are Dapper Dan (best trimmed), Adirondacker (wild and unkept), New Years Special (started after Jan 1), Cat Lick (patchy for those who can't grow a full beard) and Globe Top Special (for folks that are better at growing hair on the bottom of their head than the top)   A reception will follow with light snacks where we will display photos and maps from our glorious past. All are welcome.

Memorial Day Service

May 27th 2013 9 AM at Gates Town Hall. Our service will feature the 5 branches of the Military and acknowledgment of heroes of the past going back to the nation’s revolutionary war.

 

Scavenger Hunt

Starts May 17th and ends June 3rd at noon. Rules and forms will be available at Gates Town Hall on May 17th. Joins us in tracking down our community’s historical landmarks and history. Prizes for the top 5 winners which will be awarded June 29th.

June 29th 2013 Grand Celebration Events Schedule:

4 PM Parade – Route begins at Gates Town Hall down Buffalo Road to Wegman Road ending at GC High School via Spartan Way. (All events immediately following parade are at G-C High School).

5 PM - food vendors, (games for the kids until 8:30 pm) and more.

6 PM - Ceremonial Annexation of old Rochesterville and the Town of Greece (will include the Rochester Mayor’s Office and the office of Greece Town Supervisor)

6:30 PM - Music by “Keys to the Caddy” from hometown boy Tony Infantino of WARM 101.3.

8:00 PM - Recognition of Our Most Outstanding Citizens

8:30 PM - Rock Legend “Lou Gramm” of Foreigner will rock us out for the 200th. Lou is a hometown hero raised in Gates on Appian Drive and a graduate of G-C High School.

10:00 PM - Fireworks (best in 200 years).

 

Hinchey House Picnic

September 2nd 2013 at noon (Labor Day) Old fashioned picnic at the Hinchey House. Potato sack races, pie eating contest, pie bake off, a whiffle ball match (ok not from the 1800’s but we don’t want to break any windows).
